Jackie Milburn

Milburn’s Newcastle career started in 1943 and soon became a well known figure in English football after the World War 2 ended in 1946. Milburn began his career playing as a winger, however he moved position becoming a centre forward in 1947. Milburn helped carry Newcastle to five FA Cup finals surging his time at the club, which witnessed the club winning the trophy on three occasions. Milburn was arguably the greatest forward in English football at the time. In total he made 492 appearances for the club and scored a staggering 238 goals, averaging nearly a goal every two matches. Milburn left Newcastle in 1957 after 14 years at the club to join Linfield FC as he was installed as their player manager.

 

George Robledo

After a long spell playing for Barnsley, Robledo moved to Newcastle United in January 1949 for a fee of £26,500. He made his debut for Newcastle in a 2-0 win against Charlton and soon became a permanent fixture at the club. He was very prolific in front of goal, scoring 82 goals in 146 appearances for the club. Robledo has also played for the Chile national football team.
