Len White

White commenced his career playing for Rotherham United, his prolific rate up font earned him a move to Newcastle United in 1953 for £12000. He arrived at the club on the back of two successive FA cup wins. White had a formidable partnership up front with Jackie Milburn through out the 1950’s, the strongest forward line arguably in Europe. Len White was inspirational during the 1955 FA Cup campaign which saw Newcastle win the trophy. White continued his prolific form for Newcastle until 1962, when he joined Huddersfield Town.
White in total scored 153 goals during his nine year spell at Newcastle, in turn making him the clubs third highest ever goal scorer.

 

Arthur Bottom

Bottom began his career with York City, he was a prolific striker for the club, scoring 33 goals during his amazing tenure at the club. Towards the end of the 1960’s, Newcastle purchased the player for £4,500 and despite only making a handful off appearances for the club, he scored some absolute crucial goals, most notably 7 goals in the final 8 matches of the 1958-59 season, which in turn saved the club from being relegated. He later on ended his career playing for Chesterfield and Boston United.

 

Ivor Allchurch


Allchurch was without doubt one of the all time legends of league football, his 9 years spent at Swansea deprived him of the major titles however loyalty was something very important to match his needs. Allchurch joined a high rated forward line at Newcastle United in 1958, however the once formidable Magpies had fallen on lean times and it was not the most triumphant of clubs. After 4 seasons playing for Newcastle, Allchurch returned to Wales, this period he was playing for Cardiff City. He returned to Swansea, at the age of 36, where he starred for them for 3 further seasons.
