Peter Beardsley
Beardsley moved to Newcastle in 1983 and he became an instant hit at the club. Beardsley spent four seasons playing for Newcastle between 1983 and 1987, in total notching up 147 appearances and scoring a staggering 61 goals. His great displays for Newcastle earned him a call to the England team. He left Newcastle in 1987 to play for Liverpool, winning the league title and FA cup with them before spending two seasons with Everton. Beardsley returned to Newcastle in 1993 for a second spell, playing for the club for a further 4 seasons, his great displays during his second era even earned him a recall to the England team. He was installed captain of the side in the 1995-96 season and nearly led them to the premiership title as they finished second in the league. In 1997 he left Newcastle, later on playing for Bolton, Fulham and Hartlepool.
Chris Waddle
In July 1980, Chris Waddle signed for Newcastle United and his career took an up turn after that. He immediately established himself in the Newcastle starting line up after his debut against Shrewsbury Town in October 1980. He was consistent for Newcastle in his five year period at the club between 1980 and 1985 and this in turn earned him international recognition as Bobby Robson picked him for a friendly in 1985. After making 170 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 46 goals, he moved on to play for Spurs. After a five year successful spell at White Hart Lane, he played for French Club Marseille and then later moved back to England to play for Sheffield Wednesday.
Kevin Keegan
Keegan was a great asset to feature in any football side, he was outstanding in the air and, together with his fine finishing, and his play suited the tempo of new age football. During his three year spell playing football in Germany he was crowned as the European Football player of the year in 1978 and 1979. Keegan moved to Newcastle in 1982, finishing his career at the club, retiring at the end of the 1983-84 campaign.
