Gary Speed

Speed began his career in the year 1988, playing for Leeds United in his midfield position, after enjoying promotion with the club at the end of the 1989-90 seaosn, he helped the club win the league title at the end of the 1991-92 season. He moved to Everton in 1996 for a staggering £5,500,000, spending two seasons in total at the club. In the summer of 1998, he moved to Newcastle United, a club which he spent six seasons with, notching up 213 appearances, scoring 29 goals. He is also a Wales international, being capped over 80 times for his country.

 

Craig Bellamy

Bellamy came through the ranks at Norwich city and played for them for four seasons, notching up 84 appearances for the club. He moved to Coventry for the start of the 2000-01 season, however he only lasted one year as the club were relegated and moved to Newcastle United for £6 million. He instantly gelled with fellow striker, Alan Shearer and their partnership blossomed through out the 2001- 02 season. His Newcastle career was cut short after a public dispute with manager Graeme Souness and he moved on to play for Celtic for the remainder of the 2004-05 campaign. Bellamy moved to Blackburn at the start of the 2005-06 season and was outstanding for the club, which in turn resulted in renewed interest for the star forward. In the summer of 2006 he signed for Liverpool for a fee of £6 million.

Alan Shearer

He moved to Blackburn at the start of the 1992-1993 season from Southampton for an English transfer record fee of £3.6 million. He scored an incredible 31 goals in 40 matches as well as being honored the Football writers Association Football player of the year. He moved to Newcastle in 1996, breaking the English transfer record fee once again, moving for £15 million. Towards the end of the 2005-06 season, Alan Shearer broke Jackie Milburn’s record of all time highest Newcastle goal scorer.
