Lee Bowyer


Bowyer started his career playing for Charlton in 1993, his outstanding displays at the club earned him a lucrative £2.8 million move to Leeds United. His spell at Leeds lasted seven years and his performances were consistent through out. In total he made 257 appearances for the club, scoring 62 goals during his stay. In 2003 he had a short spell playing for West Ham before they were relegated and in the summer of 2003 he moved to Newcastle. Bowyer was consistent for Newcastle however during his career he has had various on and off field bust ups, most notably a big argument with Kieron Dyer in a match against Aston Villa in April 2005.

 

Laurent Robert

Robert began his career playing for French club, Montpellier for five seasons before moving to PSG in the summer of 1999. During his spell with PSG he was prolific in front of goal in his left wing position, scoring 24 goals in 61 matches for the club. In the summer of 2001, Robert joined Newcastle for £9.5 million as he was a well proven winger. He was outstanding for Newcastle during his first two seasons however he had a big argument with the boss, Graeme Souness, which in turn resulted in the player moving to Portsmouth in 2005. After a short spell at Portsmouth he moved on to play for Benfica of Portugal and is now playing his football with Spanish club, Levante.

 

Damien Duff

Duff was a key member of the Blackburn side which won the league cup in 2002. Damien Duff was considered the best player through out the competition. He helped Blackburn beat Spurs 2-1 in the 2002 final at the Millennium Stadium. In 2001, Duff triggered Blackburn to promotion to the premiership and during his 200 appearances for Blackburn he netted in thirty goals. He transferred to Chelsea for £17 million in the summer of 2003. After 3 years at Stamford Bridge, he transferred to Newcastle in the summer of 2006, in the first few months at the club he has severely impressed the Tyneside fans.
